Rain expected for full Mexican Grand Prix weekend!
- Nicolás Quarles van Ufford
Downforce is scarce enough as it is at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez when it's dry, and rain is being expected to fall at the venue for the Mexican Grand Prix for the whole weekend.
Lewis Hamilton can seal his sixth drivers' championship on Sunday, with the Brit needing to outscore teammate Valtteri Bottas by 12 or more points to become the driver with the second most championships in F1 history behind Michael Schumacher, who has seven.
The Brit won his previous two titles in Mexico and he could make it three in a row, with a win being enough as long as Bottas finishes outside of the podium points.
The weather forecast gives 60% chance of rain on Friday, and 80% on both Saturday and Sunday. A weekend full of slipping and sliding looks to be on the cards, then.
The forecast also says it will already be raining on Thursday night, meaning the track will already be wet by the time FP1 rolls around on Friday morning. At 21 degrees Celsius the track won't be drying up very quickly either, so we could be in for a very fun weekend full of spins and swerves in Mexico!
