Tost: "Gasly shows expected progression with Toro Rosso"
Pierre Gasly has arrived back in the Toro Rosso garage after spending half-a-season at Red Bull. While those at Red Bull are happy with Alex Albon's performance, Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost is also pleased with Gasly's efforts.
“Gasly really showed something beautiful at Pierre at Spa. Hopefully, he will be able to repeat that here at Monza. Unfortunately, he starts the GP from the back because of the grid penalty. On the other hand: In Belgium, he also started further back and still grabbed points. At the moment he is making progress: The progress we expected," Tost said.
Rain is forecast for Sunday's Italian Grand Prix. The last time a wet race occurred, Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kvyat stepped on the podium. Back in 2008 at Monza, Sebastian Vettel won his first race for the team during a wet race but Tost doesn't predict a repeat result.
“If it is wet, I think we have opportunities: We just saw in FP1 that we could come along well. When it is dry, it becomes more difficult but we also hope to be able to come along. Thanks to Honda's step, I don't think we are lagging behind the rest," Tost added.
