Rosberg on Ricciardo's penalty: "I don't like to say it, but ..."
Daniel Ricciardo had two off the track moments in the dying stages of the French Grand Prix and was handed two five-second penalties as a result. On this occasion, Nico Rosberg agrees with the stewards' verdict.
With Lando Norris fighting car issues, Ricciardo turned on attack mode. The young Brit was stubborn as he defended well enough to keep the Australian behind. But Ricciardo came back and ended up pushing Norris off the track and the Renault driver himself went off the track in pursuit of Kimi Raikkonen.
Since then, Ricciardo has voiced his opinion nice and loud on social media and in interviews. However, in Rosberg's latest analysis video, Rosberg is on the side of the stewards.
“Ricciardo left the circuit twice. Once when he fought with Lando (Norris) and then when passing by Kimi Raikkonen. I know it's a damn topic and I hate it, but he should get a penalty because you can't just leave the circuit to catch up," Rosberg announced in his vlog on youtube.
“It's no different, but we just need certain rules. Daniel knows he can't catch up that way, so he shouldn't have," he concluded.
