Bottas knows he must "work hard" to end Hamilton's winning streak
Valtteri Bottas was able to keep up with Lewis Hamilton through the early races in the 2019 Formula season. But since then, the five-time world champion has gone on a four-race win streak. Bottas knows he must "work hard" in the coming weeks before his championship chances slip away.
Following Hamilton's win in France, the gap between the Mercedes drivers has opened up to 36 points. What made it worse was the fact that Bottas finished 18 seconds behind and struggled to keep ahead of Charles Leclerc after the VSC restart.
The Finish driver has just a few days to reflect and pick up the pieces before he goes again in Austria.
"I just need to reflect on this weekend on why Lewis was quicker today and yesterday in qualifying. It's something I need to look at. He was really strong and consistent today, and also yesterday in qualifying. He's not unbeatable; I know that. I just need to work hard," Bottas told reporters and is quoted by the BBC.
"Many races to go; no point in giving up on anything. You never know what can happen in the championship. The last three weekends have not been ideal in terms of points but not a disaster.
"I feel in a good place and still strong and quick. I just need to learn from this weekend and trust me it will be good."
