Gasly wants to make countrymen proud at French Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly is set to race at his home Grand Prix for the first time with Red Bull, and the Frenchman has admitted he's excited to finally race around the Paul Ricard circuit in a competitive car.
Gasly retired at his first shot at a home Formula 1 race when he failed to complete the French Grand Prix last season after colliding with Esteban Ocon with both drivers punished for their roles in the incident. Whilst Ocon was left without a seat for 2019, Gasly stepped up from Toro Rosso to join Red Bull but he has since had mixed fortunes.
Although the challenge will be big for Gasly he's hoping he can do his country proud when race day comes around.
“It is a special weekend, I am really looking forward to it. I will do everything to get the best out of it, it is a great opportunity to do well for the eyes of my countrymen," Gasly said as quoted by Formule1.
"There will be a nice atmosphere, I love Paul Ricard, I've driven well here in the past. In the F4 I won the race.
"Now I am going to drive it with Red Bull, a competitive car, it makes me excited. I'm going to give everything."
