Norris angry at Hamilton: "I don’t know why he would say it now"
Ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton stated it would be better for Formula 1 if they made it physically harder to drive the cars to make it more challenging for the younger drivers.
Lando Norris, who was sat alongside Hamilton when he made the comments, was a bit miffed about the remark and decided he needed to fight back.
"I don't know why he would say it now, and not when he first started. It must be targetted at me, George [Russell] and Alex [Albon], because we're the youngest in F1 and I'm not suffering perhaps as much as he thinks I should," Norris told the Telegraph.
"I don't think it's intimidation, I just don't know why he wouldn't say it any other year. It's much harder now than when he started in F1. He says he likes heavier steering. Well, he can ask his team to turn down the power steering if he wants."
During the press conference, Hamilton asked how old Norris was. When the McLaren driver replied with 19, Hamilton said: "shoot!".
Hamilton was 22 when he made his debut for McLaren. The debut age has been tumbling ever since. One of those with the biggest profile is Max Verstappen, who is currently racing in his fifth Formula 1 season and fast approaching his 100th Grand Prix at 21-years-old.
