Renault keen to solve all issues for home Grand Prix in June
The Renault team have failed to get going in the early part of the 2019 Formula 1 season, and that form is expected to continue in Monaco. Last year, they led the midfield.
Their home race, the French Grand Prix takes place at the end of June. Cyril Abiteboul believes his team will fix the issues by then. But Daniel Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg will have to negotiate Monaco and Canadian races first.
“We are keen to solve all problems at Paul Ricard. To catch up with all the delays that have stopped us from the start of the season. In terms of engine power, that goal means that we can run at full power again and even a little more by then," predicts team boss Cyril Abiteboul in a conversation with Motorsport.
“Our main problem is currently not complying with our set deadlines. Our production line is currently crammed with designs that we should have put on the car weeks ago.
“We will also bring some of the larger, aerodynamic updates to France during the racing weekend. At the latest then, possibly sooner, we will put a number of other adjustments on the car that should have already been fitted. That is our answer to the unacceptable results of the last few weeks. We want to find enough time to leave midfield behind."
