- Ludo van Denderen
Jacques Villeneuve is returning to Williams, the team with which he became Formula One World Champion in 1997. The Canadian has been appointed ambassador of the British team. Jenson Button and Jamie Chadwick also remain attached to Williams in an ambassador role.
In a statement, Villeneuve said he was delighted to make his return: "Williams has been a crucial part of my life, full of wonderful memories. I am thrilled to be part of the family again and to be able to celebrate the team's heritage while supporting its future."
Vowles speaks of privilege of having Villeneuve around
Along with Button and Chadwick, Williams has a special trio of ambassadors. James Vowles, Williams team principal, is proud to have secured them. "It is a privilege to have Jenson, Jacques and Jamie with the team in 2025. Together they are the perfect representation of this iconic team: the history we have made, our tradition of investing in and providing access to motorsport for future champions, and our ambition and determination to make history again," said the Briton.
"Jenson and Jacques made their F1 debuts with Williams and went on to become world champions, while Jamie has pushed boundaries for women in motorsport as a Williams Racing driver and mentor to Lia [Block]. We are delighted to have them on board as part of the next chapter in the Williams story."
