Gasly saw Verstappen excel: 'Maybe that frustrates some people'
- Ludo van Denderen
After a particularly challenging season, Max Verstappen could secure a fourth consecutive world title in Las Vegas. Pierre Gasly admiringly watched how Verstappen withstood all the challenges throughout 2024 and always managed to maximise. The Alpine driver believes that Verstappen was so good that this has caused quite some frustration for others.
If Verstappen is at least 60 points ahead of Lando Norris after Las Vegas, he will be sure of the title. "It's no surprise to anyone," Gasly told Sky Sports. "It might frustrate some people or some fans because he has just been performing at such a good level over the last few years."
'Norris and Hamilton know how hard Max is to beat'
Because that is what Verstappen does, according to his former teammate at Red Bull Racing. "In a season like this, fair enough, he probably had the best car at the start of the year. But recently, we've seen Ferrari and McLaren taking the fight. He didn't put a foot wrong in the last few weekends. Taking the points when he had to take them and he's going into the last three races with a big lead. Fair play to him."
His rivals will get another chance to beat Verstappen in 2025. Gasly realises that beating the Dutchman is a hell of a task. "It is not easy to beat Max. Lewis [Hamilton] and Lando [Norris] can agree with that. He has put on another extremely strong season again."
