Red Bull showcase livery that was due to feature in Las Vegas Grand Prix
Red Bull Racing had planned to use a special livery for the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix, but they have decided to continue with their traditional livery for the weekend in the Sin City. This is because the added paint would've added too much weight to the RB20. Despite that, Red Bull still revealed and showcased the livery during a special run in Ireland.
Prior to the race weekend in Las Vegas, Red Bull Racing did a show run in Galway, Ireland. David Coulthard and Patrick Friesacher drove an old Red Bull Racing Formula 1 car in front of thousands of fans. They used the RB7, the 2012 Red Bull car with which Sebastian Vettel won his third world title.
No special livery for Las Vegas
Over the years, Red Bull Racing has introduced special liveries for the races in the United States. In 2023, they asked fans to design to the livery for the three races in the USA. That will not be the case this year as the team want to avoid adding unnecessary extra weight to the car. However, they still showcased a new design in the run up to the race.
The RB7 did not have the normal livery during the show run in Ireland. Light blue was used instead of the usual thunderblue colour. However, this livery will not be used for the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen can secure a fourth (consecutive) World Championship this weekend in Vegas. After the Las Vegas GP, a maximum of 60 points will be available. Verstappen's current gap to Lando Norris is 62 points. The McLaren driver must cut the gap by at least three points to keep his hopes of a first world title alive in 2024.
