Several drivers receive new engine parts in Imola
- Nicole Mulder
Max Verstappen will drive with a new engine part at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Imola. Red Bull Racing has decided to fit him and teammate Sergio Perez with new Control Electronics (CE). Changes have also been made to Charles Leclerc, with Ferrari replacing much of the Monegasque's engine.
Red Bull replaces engine part Verstappen
As a result, Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez will drive with a new engine part. Each driver is allowed to use two of these parts per season, so there is no question of any penalty.
In Leclerc's case, more parts were replaced: Ferrari replaced his internal combustion engine (ICE), turbocharger, MGU-H, MGU-K and exhaust system. As it is only his second change of these parts - with the exception of the exhaust system, of which eight may be used in a season - he too does not have to fear a penalty.
In addition to Verstappen, Perez and Leclerc, Daniel Ricciardo, Yuki Tsunoda, Nico Hulkenberg, Kevin Magnussen and Logan Sargeant also changed engine parts. Hulkenberg, Magnussen and Sargeant are using their second engine, and Ricciardo and Tsunoda have only received a new Energy Store.
