carlos sainz back in action in australia

'Sainz already driving again for Ferrari in Australia'

15 March at 13:12

According to information from Motorsport.com, Carlos Sainz will 'just' return to action for Ferrari at the Australian Grand Prix. The Spaniard underwent an appendectomy last week, but is expected to be fit enough to get back in the car.

Sainz was seen back at the paddock in Saudi Arabia the day after his surgery. The past few days have been dominated by rest for the 29-year-old driver. Sainz is scheduled to fly to Melbourne this weekend to continue his recovery and already recover from jet lag.

Should the current world championship number six still not prove fit enough, there is always Oliver Bearman. The 18-year-old Briton will also be back in action in Australia in Formula 2, so he can fill in if necessary.

Albon went through the same in 2022

When Alexander Albon underwent surgery in 2022 because of an appendectomy, he was there again the next GP. Only difference is that back then there were three weeks between F1 weekends, now it is just two.
