Max Verstappen has made it clear he would want to leave Red Bull Racing if Helmut Marko has to leave. However, there are question marks over the clause previously talked about. Indeed, according to The Telegraph, Marko put that clause in himself.

Things are unsettled within Red Bull Racing. There is a clear battle between the Christian Horner camp and the Red Bull Austria camp. The latter camp includes Helmut Marko and Max Verstappen. The Dutchman, despite the team's good performance, would not want to continue without Red Bull's advisor.

The clause in Verstappen's contract

In recent weeks, Verstappen was even rumoured to have a clause in his contract, allowing him to leave if Marko is no longer with the team. However, The Telegraph has learned that there are doubts about this clause. Marko is said to have added this clause to Verstappen's contract himself, without anyone from Red Bull Racing or Red Bull GmbH knowing about it.

Within Verstappen's camp, they are sure that there are (also other) options for him to leave the team at the end of 2024, GPblog learned earlier this week. Doubts about the future at Red Bull Racing remain as long as there is uncertainty over Helmut Marko's tenure. Horner's future also plays an important role. After all, if he remains the team principal, there is no interest within Verstappen's camp in staying connected to the team for longer.
