Max Verstappen scored maximum points in the sprint race in Belgium, as teammate Sergio Perez got no points due to a DNF. As a result, Verstappen has once again added eight points to his lead in the 2023 World Championship standings. Furthermore, Carlos Sainz rises to fifth place and Oscar Piastri is the new number ten in the standings.

Verstappen is now on 289 points, which means he has 118 points more than his Mexican teammate. Fernando Alonso put his AMR23 in the gravel trap and therefore did not catch up to Perez. Alonso did see his rival Lewis Hamilton come two points closer.

Sainz passed George Russell, who only earned only one point after eleven laps of racing at Spa-Francorchamps. Oscar Piastri earned seven points and is now on 34 points in total.
