Leclerc calms the Ferrari fans: “There wasn’t an issue”

Charles Leclerc has finished 3rd in Qualifying in Bahrain, but was not able to do a final run in the session, as he exited his car with a minute to go.
Stronger showing by the Ferraris than expected
Following the practice sessions, it looked like Ferrari will lose out on being the second fastest car on the grid behind Red Bull, but Leclerc and Carlos Sainz locked up the second row of the grid, ahead of Fernando Alonso who did a promising job in the practice sessions.
“I think we were in the fight for pole, which was a good surprise to be honest because I did not expect that after testing and after the Free Practice sessions”, said Leclerc in his post-qualifying interview.
He added: “We were able to find that little bit of pace for the quali lap, which is great. However, we need to keep in mind that on our race run we see to be a bit on the back foot compared to Red Bull.”
The field was really close today, and tomorrow, the Monagasque driver will have a lot of work to do, which looks promising for the fans.
“Aston Martin were really quick and Mercedes were quick at some points at qualifying. And, we are a lot closer then we expected”, the Ferrari driver added.
