Pierre Gasly cannot wait to start his first season at Alpine. After his emotional farewell to AlphaTauri, he was in need of a holiday, but in the meantime, he is already looking ahead with great energy to the first Grand Prix of 2023, scheduled for early March in Bahrain.

At Alpine, Gasly will sit next to Esteban Ocon, an old acquaintance from the days when both drivers were active in karts. It is eagerly awaited whether things will go well between the two, as it is no secret that the compatriots did not always get along well. However, both have assured on several occasions that those days are far behind them.

Gasly therefore cannot wait to start his new challenge. "It's a new start to a new journey. I must say I'm extremely motivated and can't wait to hit the track," said the 27-year-old Frenchman during Alpine's car launch, which GPblog attended.

"Alpine had a fantastic season last year," he continued. Gasly saw the team experience great growth during the 2022 F1 season, in which it eventually beat Mclaren in the battle for fourth place in the constructors' championship. " The target for us is to consolidate fourth place in the championship and close the gap to the top three," he added.

To achieve that goal, Alpine will have to continue the 2022 line, but the team will also have to deal with the reliability problems that plagued Ocon and Fernando Alonso. Gasly is looking forward to helping his new team grow further in the 2023 F1 season.
