'Gasly will earn an estimated fifteen million euros at Alpine'

During the weekend before the Japanese Grand Prix, Alpine officially announced that Pierre Gasly will race for the French team from 2023. According to rumours, Gasly will earn almost as much as world champion Fernando Alonso.
It had been in the air for a while that Gasly would make the switch to Alpine. Nyck de Vries will replace the Frenchman at AlphaTauri next season, while Gasly himself will take up the challenge alongside compatriot Esteban Ocon.
Gasly still had a contract at AlphaTauri for 2023, as there was no place for the Frenchman at Red Bull Racing's team due to Sergio Perez's contract extension. Gasly would have signed a deal for ten million euros in 2023. However, with the sudden departure of Fernando Alsono, a spot became vacant at Alpine. The team had to look for a new driver after the Oscar Piastri saga. Gasly's name was at the top of the list.
Gasly gets two-year contract
Gasly's contract would run for two years, according to French website Sportune. With that, the Frenchman would have the option to extend through 2025. Gasly will earn about the same at Alpine as two-time world champion Alonso. He will be paid an estimated fifteen million euros in 2023, while in 2024 the salary still depends on the number of races. This shoots Gasly up the list of the highest-earning drivers in F1. Alonso himself will also earn slightly more at Aston Martin in 2023.
