Gasly jokes: 'Will take maybe 15 laps until Verstappen is on P1'

Pierre Gasly is not in the form of his life. The Frenchman has been having an increasingly difficult time with teammate Yuki Tsunoda in recent weeks, and the poorly performing AlphaTauri car does not help either. In qualifying in Singapore, Gasly had another good day by driving the seventh fastest time. He is therefore particularly satisfied.
"It was really cool, not easy in the car but I am really happy with this qualifying, yesterday the track was dry and we struggled. The weather definitely played into our hands. The conditions kept changing and we had to adapt to that, but it worked out well," Gasly is quoted by Canal +.
Gasly on Verstappen
The 26-year-old driver hopes to move up a few more places on Sunday at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, but at the same time he must also look back. After all, behind him, Max Verstappen will start in an RB18. In conversation with The Race Gasly is asked about how he thinks Verstappen will fare. "Maybe it's slightly more diffcult [to overtake] on this track, so maybe 15 laps until he is in the lead," he joked.
Gasly's joke refers to the race in Belgium where Verstappen was in P1 from the backfield in no time at Spa-Francorchamps. The AlphaTauri driver concluded by saying that a win might be a bit difficult for his old teammate, but that he will "definitely" finish on the podium.
