Red Bull Racing at Race Control: Verstappen to start from 4th spot?
- GPblog.com
Will Max Verstappen start from seventh or fourth? Red Bull Racing has not given up hope that the Dutchman will start the Italian Grand Prix from the second position.
Jonathan Wheatley, the team's sporting director, went to the race committee on Sunday morning to convince them that Verstappen should indeed start from fourth place. According to Red Bull, their own regulations were not properly adhered to when determining the grid line-up.
Five spot penalty
Prior to the driver's parade at Monza, Verstappen was asked which place he would start from. "I don't know," he said. "We'll probably find out in a few minutes. We'll see."
Verstappen had to move five places back on the grid because of a part change in his engine. But Red Bull's thinking is that the penalties for some other drivers could also allow him to move forward again.
