Helmut Marko does not think Red Bull Racing will be the favourite to win in Hungary. In fact, the 79-year-old Austrian points to title rival Ferrari as the absolute favourite at the Hungaroring.

Hungary ideal for Ferrari

According to Marko, the Hungaroring is the perfect terrain for Ferrari, this he says in conversation with Kleine Zeitung. "There are a lot of tight corners where they can impress with their traction," the adviser said. Hungary is also a circuit where Red Bull have not won for years. The last time was in 2014, when Daniel Ricciardo crossed the line first.

Can the rain help?

Marko hopes the weather can throw a spanner in the works when it comes to a possible Ferrari party. Especially on Saturday bad weather is predicted with possibly even thunderstorms. According to Marko, tyre wear will therefore be an important factor in the weekend of the Hungarian Grand Prix.

"We are certainly not the favourites, but we want to make the most of it," Marko concluded. Unlike Red Bull, Ferrari have plenty of confidence ahead of the race in Hungary. Mattia Binotto has his sights set on a one-two.
