Formula One seems keen to host another Grand Prix in South Africa. According to June rumours, an announcement would be made sometime in the next few weeks, but the suggested main sponsor DHL says it is just rumours.

Anonymous Twitter user F1 Paddock Insider tweeted on 11 July that the South African Grand Prix was confirmed for 2023 and that the Kyalami circuit will host the race for the next five years. DHL would become the main sponsor of the event. The tweet was picked up by many fans who sent it around en masse.

DHL talks about rumours

However, according to DHL, nothing is certain yet when it comes to the South African Grand Prix. News24.com DHL checked with the logistics partner of Formula 1 and got the following answer: "DHL is the official logistics partner of Formula 1 worldwide. The calendar for 2023 has not yet been announced and speculation around the race is nothing more than that."

DHL will not say anything about a possible Grand Prix at Kyalami for the time being. According to F1 Paddock Insider, Formula 1 plans to announce the new race this week.
