Daniel Ricciardo is looking forward to the British Grand Prix. The Australian says Silverstone will forever hold a special place in his heart, as he made his Formula One debut there in 2011 for Hispania Racing Team.
Sea of papaya in Britain
The British Grand Prix is always a special race for Ricciardo, he says. Now that he is driving for McLaren, it is even more special because it is his team's home race. "There was a sea of papaya last year, so I'm excited to head there again this year," Ricciardo revealed.
The previous weekend in Canada ended disappointingly for Ricciardo, who finished just outside the points with eleventh position. "Canada was a difficult one, but we have to learn from it and keep moving forward," he said. Silverstone, with several overtaking opportunities, offers good chances for a spectacular race, also knows Ricciardo who wants to put on a great Grand Prix for the British McLaren fans. "We have awesome fans so we will do everything we can to deliver for them," he concludes.
Tough season
Ricciardo is having a very difficult season in 2022. After nine Grands Prix, the Aussie has only gathered fifteen points. Teammate Lando Norris is doing better and with 50 points is in seventh place in the championship.
