FIA hands out reprimands to three drivers after FP2
- GPblog.com
Pierre Gasly as well as Aston Martin drivers Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll have all been reprimanded by race control after the end of the second free practice session in Canada. They did not return to the track in the proper manner.
Three reprimands after FP2
The stewards have decided to reprimand the three drivers after the race committee, led by Eduardo Freitas, saw the three drivers re-enter the track in an improper manner. According to point fourteen on the special regulations for this weekend, it is not allowed to re-enter the track before the orange bollard after Turn 14.
All three drivers stalled entering the final chicane after the long straight and failed to drive around the bollard back onto the track. For Gasly and Vettel, it is the first reprimand of the season. Lance Stroll now has a second one to his name. Possibly the drivers were not aware of the rule, as in the first free practice this "escape route" was not yet mandatory for the drivers.

The curious thing is that the bollard that drivers had to go around if they missed the corner was not in place in FP1, but the race director did not accept that as an excuse
