Sebastian Vettel dropped last weekend that he would prefer to drive on "real American tracks" rather than a street circuit like the one in Miami. The Rahal family, active in the IndyCar Series, has also noticed this. Vettel has received an invitation to test drive an IndyCar car.

Vettel said in Miami that a circuit like Road America suits him much better than Miami. IndyCar driver Graham Rahal then invited the four-time world champion to test via Twitter: "If you ever want to test an IndyCar at Road America, we'll make sure it happens. It would be an honor to have you in our car."

Graham Rahal made the offer without consulting with father and team owner Bobby, but those folds have since been smoothed over as well. Rahal Sr. responded to a tweet from his son: "Seb, it's a deal if you want it." Whether Vettel will take up the offer is unknown.

Vettel's future.

Vettel's contract at Aston Martin expires after this season. Previously, the German indicated that a contract extension is far from certain. Much depends on the performance of Aston Martin in the coming period. Vettel is only considering staying if the performance takes off, because he is not satisfied with the start of the season.

There seems to be no room for Vettel at other teams in Formula 1 in 2023, so a move to IndyCar may be beckoning. This would allow him to follow in the footsteps of Romain Grosjean and Marcus Ericsson, among others.
