Sebastian Vettel was one of the first to speak out about the current situation in Ukraine. Even before Formula 1 had made a decision on the Russian Grand Prix, the Aston Martin driver expressed that he would not race in Russia. He stressed that silence was not an option after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Vettel, who is known to speak out regularly on human rights, argues that the shock of the invasion contributed to him expressing his opinion openly again. "I think everyone has an attitude, but the question is whether everyone always dares to share it," he says according to Daily Mail.

Vettel sees Formula 1 in a different perspective

The four-time world champion himself has no problem expressing his opinion out loud. "There are certain topics you can't remain silent about," he explains. The war in Ukraine is also keeping Vettel busy, who even says he struggles to find motivation in his daily life. "You know that there are things that are much more important," continues the 34-year-old German.

He adds that the importance of Formula 1 is dwarfed by what is currently going on in the world. According to Vettel, values and morality should come before everything else. "Whether someone drives fast or slow, whether the car is good or not, it's all secondary," said the four-time world champion.
