The Thursday in a race weekend has officially disappeared from the schedule in 2022. The schedule for the Bahrain Grand Prix reveals that all the action will not begin until Friday.

F1 wants more races

Formula One is looking for more and more locations to host Formula One races and by 2022 that will make for a full calendar. 23 races are planned this season and according to F1 it doesn't stop there. There are many more candidates on the list and Liberty Media previously talked about 25 races.

From the paddock, however, there is more and more talk that the schedules are too full. Mechanics are away from home for a year because they have to go from race to race. The fuller the calendar, the fewer these people have days off. In fact, between races, they are also expected at the factory.

A press event later

To reduce this workload, in 2022 Thursday will be removed from the schedule. Normally drivers were expected on Thursday for the press events and everything had to be ready. In 2022 this will no longer be the case.

F1 journalist, Albert Fabrega, shows on his Twitter account the schedule for the Bahrain GP. It shows that the press conference for drivers has been moved to Friday morning and the press conference for the team owners has been moved from Friday to Saturday. How this will look in a race weekend with a sprint race is still unknown.
