It's been almost three years since Pierre Gasly drove for Red Bull Racing. The Frenchman was replaced by Alexander Albon midway through the season due to disappointing results. Nico Rosberg expects Red Bull to seriously consider Gasly again after next season.

Since his return to AlphaTauri, Gasly seems to be back to his old self. In 2020 he won the Italian Grand Prix and last season he had many strong results as well. He broke the 100-point barrier for the first time with a total score of 110 and a ninth place in the championship.

Sergio Perez played an important role in the championship of Max Verstappen but did not have his best season in F1. The Mexican has a contract until 2023. Gasly has already said that he is a contender for a seat at Red Bull after 2022.

A question mark remains

Single world champion Rosberg is surprised that the team was not already considering him for next season. "Pierre is really, really awesome, to the extent where you are surprised they don’t take him back into the mother team, into Red Bull Racing", he tells Sky Sports.

"But you will never know if he’s able to perform under the pressure of Red Bull Racing. That’s the big question mark which is left, and that’s why they didn’t put him back in. But at AlphaTauri he’s doing a really phenomenal job", Rosberg finishes.
