In 2007, Lewis Hamilton came to Formula 1 as a rookie to drive for the McLaren team. He became the teammate of Fernando Alonso. For years there have been rumours that the two drivers don't like each other. Alonso explains their relationship in an interview.
By the time the Brit joined the team, Alonso already had two world titles under his belt. The teammates finished the season with an equal number of points, which was a great achievement for Hamilton, who was just new to F1.
In an interview with Finetwork, Alonso is asked about his old teammate. It comes out that all of Spain would hate the Brit. The two-time world champion looks back to 2007.
Alonso has no connection with Hamilton
"At that time he [Hamilton] was not that bad. He was a rookie. Now I see he's a bit lost. There are always bad guys and good guys, that's part of the sport", the Spaniard begins.
Alonso is asked if he has a connection with Hamilton. “Not really, he’s not having any relationship with anyone. He isolated himself in the last few years. He’s in the world of fashion, wearing strange clothes." Several times this season, the Alpine driver revealed that Max Verstappen was his favourite for the world title.
