Max Verstappen failed to secure pole position yesterday after colliding with the wall on the final fast lap, but it seems Red Bull Racing and Alpha Tauri are fast on this track. Toyoharu Tanabe starts the day with confidence.

Verstappen will start the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix from the second row of the grid in position three, with Sergio Perez starting behind him in position five. Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda also managed to get into Q3, starting in sixth and eighth place. Honda are eager for those good results.

"Not only in qualifying, but from FP1 onwards we have been able to steadily move up. As we approach the end of the season, we have seen a big improvement in learning speed and consistency while driving. The fact that we were all on the same start line for the first time and that we all made it to Q3 is a sign that we are becoming more and more consistent," Tanabe told Autosport Web.

More overtaking opportunities than expected

Tanabe is still worried about the short distance to the first corner. He would prefer the grid to be slightly backwards, but despite that he is confident. "It's surprising how much you can overtake if Formula 2 is to be believed. I hope we have a good start and then we can drive at the front."
