The first free practice was a special moment for Formula 1. Mick Schumacher, son of the, until recently, most successful driver in history, made his debut during a Grand Prix weekend. Team boss Guenther Steiner was very positive about that first practice session afterwards.

When asked how the German had done on his debut, Haas' team boss said to Sky Germany: "Very well. He drove the first practice session perfectly. He had the right speed, didn't try to exaggerate and just finished the programme. The feedback is good. The technicians told me that he already knows exactly where he's wasting time, which is very good."

Schumacher in a good mood

"The first time in a Formula 1 car is difficult, just to get the processes right. There is so much you have to process. But he did a great job today. The engineers can talk to him about everything, he is very receptive and just in a good mood," says Steiner. That's not so surprising under the circumstances, of course.
