New team principal Williams hopeful: 'We have a clear vision'

Williams have gone through enormous changes in recent months. The team was a family business for a long time but has now been taken over by Dorliton Capital. That party has to make sure that Williams returns to their former glory. That is why Dorliton Capital has appointed a new team boss, Simon Roberts.
Roberts explained that the investment of Dorliton Capital will bring the team closer to the budget cap. "Our current budget is aimed at going to the budget cap. This year it's already too late for that, we only have four months to go and we already have a clear vision of where we are going," said Williams' acting team principal to Formula1.com.
Focus on 2022
"For next year we are already looking at what we can do, now that we have the finances for everything. Of course, we are only going to spend money on the parts that are really needed." Roberts sees that 2020 and 2021 will be all about survival and that Williams can start again with a clean slate in 2022.
"We have already made huge strides with where we were originally. However, we cannot yet work on the car of 2022. We cannot yet work on it in the wind tunnel. The intention is good, of course, but it remains to be seen what effects that will have. Our expectations are that the playing field will be a lot more level than it is today," concluded Roberts.
