Ricciardo: Renault still a little way off where they want to be in Mexico

Daniel Ricciardo has admitted that Renault aren't where they want to be after the constructor scored just one top ten finish from the opening two sessions of the Mexican Grand Prix weekend.

The team's best finish from FP1 and FP2 was Nico Hulkenberg's P9 in the second practice session. Ricciardo himself made some improvements from FP1 shedding over a second off his time in FP2.

Despite making improvements in terms of lap times, Ricciardo admitted that he struggled a bit during the first session and although he recognised the progress, he's aware of the job at hand.

“We struggled a bit today for balance on the car," Ricciardo said in Renault's Friday review.

"I wasn’t that comfortable this morning, we did make some small improvements and some progress this afternoon, but there’s still a lot more to do.

"It’s not where we want to be at this stage. We still have a bit to gain, so we’ll see what else we have in the pocket overnight and into tomorrow.”

Renault will be hoping to bounce back in Mexico after both drivers were disqualified from the Japanese Grand Prix. Do you think they can do it? Let us know in our poll!
