Russian GP | Saturday Summary – Leclerc takes pole to match Schumacher's streak

It was a busy day! Charles Leclerc beat Lewis Hamilton to pole position and there were multiple major news stories. Check out our summary of all the action from today below. 

FP3

Ferrari were the team to beat in FP3 with Charles Leclerc topping the timesheet. It was a competitive session with Sebastian Vettel not being far off the pace. Mercedes had no answers to the Ferrari's and finished the session half a second behind the Italian team.

Qualifying 

Leclerc set a blisteringly fast lap in qualifying to take pole position and starts first for the fourth time in a row. The last Ferrari driver to do that was Michael Schumacher back in 2001 when Leclerc was only three years old! 

Lewis Hamilton will start the race second with Sebastian Vettel third.

There was a lot of major news today. McLaren and Mercedes revealed that they will be collaborating from the 2021 season onwards with McLaren using the Mercedes engine. They will hope that this is the final piece of the puzzle to get them back to the top of the sport.
