Daniel Ricciardo has confirmed the latest power unit upgrade the French team has deployed is solely focusing on improving its reliability for the Spanish Grand Prix.

This new upgrade comes just two races following its last reliability upgrade with the MGU-K. The MGU-K has been Renault's downfall so far this season, and the upgrade is planned to improve its reliability in time for the race on Barcelona.

Both Renault drivers, Ricciardo and Nico Hulkenberg, have revealed the decision to bring more updates to Spain is to improve the reliability, with any further updates looking to improve its performance.

"It is mainly for reliability," Ricciardo confirmed. "I don't know how much detail they have gone into what parts have changed. But some materials, I know what they are but I don't know how much I can say. But some have changed to help reliability.

"For now, that is the target but if we see that it is more reliable then we can start again pushing the power curve and all those other things that others do in qualifying."
