Official: Hamilton disqualified from the Chinese Grand Prix

23 March at 11:25

It's official: Lewis Hamilton, similarly to Pierre Gasly and his teammate, Charles Leclerc, has been disqualified from the Chinese Grand Prix.

After claiming pole position in Sprint Qualifying and finishing first in the Sprint, the seven-time world champion first crossed the finish line in P6 at the Shanghai International Circuit. However, once the post-race inspection took place, it was revealed that the SF-25 had issue with its plank assembly.

After measurements took place, it was found that along the stiffness compliant area, in three different places, Hamilton's plank assembly was shorter than the minimum 9 millimetres that's required. After he went to the stewards at 19:15 local time, it was announced that he has been disqualified.

Hamilton as a result will now miss out on the 8 points he has earned today on track, while together with Charles Leclerc's disqualification, Ferrari now have 18 less points in the constructors' standings.
