Max Verstappen states his ‘hopes’ for Liam Lawson Red Bull partnership
Max Verstappen has offered his thoughts on his upcoming partnership with Red Bull Racing teammate Liam Lawson heading into the 2025 season.
The Dutchman is looking to secure his fifth consecutive Drivers’ crown. Alongside him will be a new teammate in the shape of New Zealander Lawson, who joins the Milton Keynes-based outfit after a half-season spell at sister team Visa Cash App RB.
When asked about his thoughts on working with Lawson, Verstappen responded on his official site: “It’s very exciting. We have seen Liam grow within the Red Bull family and it’s going to be very interesting to work together with the team.
“I really hope we can do a good job together, to try to improve the car and make it more competitive,” concluded the four-time World Champion.
Can Lawson compete with a dominant Verstappen?
Almost all of Verstappen’s teammates have failed to match the Dutch driver’s abilities on track, including previous colleague Sergio Perez, who left following the conclusion of the 2024 campaign after a dismal run of results.
Only time will tell whether Lawson can hold a candle to Verstappen’s prowess behind the wheel. After replacing the underperforming Daniel Ricciardo part-way through last season at RB, he was able to match and sometimes beat experienced teammate Yuki Tsunoda on pace.
The pair will be present at the F1 75 Live event at the O2 Arena in London on February 18th. We will see the Red Bull duo in racing action for the first time at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, commencing 04:00 GMT on Sunday March 16th.
