Lewis Hamilton reportedly dialled four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel before his first Ferrari test as details of the call begin to emerge. The German spent six seasons with the iconic Italian team, winning 14 races in the process. Hamilton, who drove a Ferrari for the first time today at the Fiorano circuit, has a longtime friendship with his ex-rival.

Advice from ex-Ferrari foe and friend Sebastian Vettel

According to Italian outlet Corriere Della Sera, Hamilton phoned the former Ferrari driver last week to 'compare notes' and help him prepare for his first week at Maranello. On Monday, Hamilton's acclimatisation with his new team began. The former Mercedes icon was pictured officially as a Ferrari driver for the first time and met several new faces.

Speaking in one of his many Mercedes farewell speeches in late 2024, Hamilton had nothing but praise for his good friend Sebastian Vettel. The pair share similar values off the track and check in on one another when they can.

"He's the best world champion that I know because he's far more than a driver. He's someone with real passion, he's empathetic, and he cares for people," Hamilton said. "He actually is the only other one who's tried to utilise his platform for something good. I've met so many celebrities, and so many people and there are a lot of people that don't take time for others, and I think for me that makes me- it doesn't matter how good he drives, because he's so quick anyways, we had great races together, but I think for me, we had the best races together."

Hamilton makes waves in Fiorano

Lewis Hamilton's first outing with Ferrari took place earlier this morning at the Fiorano test track. Thousands of passionate Ferrari fans lined the circuit from the early hours of the morning to catch a glimpse of their new hero. The seven-time world champion has already broken records since beginning his Ferrari stint. His recent Instagram upload in Maranello has become the most-liked Formula 1 post ever. The Brit is also expected to run a previous car in Barcelona before he returns to the track at Fiorano for Ferrari's own season launch on February 19.
