Max Verstappen receives the drivers' world championship trophy this Friday in Rwanda. The Dutchman hopes to continue winning consecutive titles next season as well, but in the African country, he underlined it will not be easy to claim the biggest prize in 2025 given the competition.

Verstappen expects 'tight championship battle' in 2025

Red Bull Racing could adapt the best to the current set of regulations back in the 2022 season, that was followed by the Austrian team's domination in Formula One. In 2024, McLaren and Ferrari could get ever closer to Red Bull on track, with Mercedes also showing their best face on occasions. Therefore, on paper, the 2025 season seems to be another exciting one with multiple teams at the front.

Looking back on last season's conclusion, the Dutch driver does see that Red Bull have to improve ahead of the upcoming year. "We didn't have a best, let's say, middle of the season. End of the season was a bit more competitive. We just need to work, try to improve the car more again. We have a lot of ideas that we want to implement," Verstappen began.

"And then I hope that when we hit the ground running next year, we can be competitive again and fight for the wins. But it will be very tight, I think, between a lot of teams now up front, which I think as a championship is great," the four-time world concluded.
