Ben Sulayem criticised: 'He is quite aggressive, verging on rude'
Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the President of the FIA has been in the news recently on multiple occasions, as many important figures left the organisation, and he also talked about the drivers swearing that was not welcome by the grid. In De Telegraaf's podcast, former driver Christijan Albers explained why he is not fond of the Emirati either.
Albers reacted to a Ben Sulayem interview he read from last weekend and expressed his dismay for the FIA's President's words. He addressed the comment of the Emirati, who says he feels like he does not have to answer the drivers on the grid. "Uncle Ben, that he doesn't have to answer for himself," says the former driver.
"I find the way he sets himself up as FIA president... Then comes a piece that he doesn't have to answer when drivers ask him about where all that money from the fines goes? And you see how he answers, quite aggressively, verging on rude. After all, it is the FOM and Formula 1 teams that keep the FIA alive. He is absolutely not transparent. 0.0 transparent."
Albers denounces the FIA's luxurious lifestyle
Albers finds it hard to understand why the Ben Sulayem would share such comments with the press. "I find that quite vehement. Because those men from that FIA really do have a luxurious life. They don't have to worry about having to work hard at the circuit," the Dutch F1 analyst concludes.
