McLaren can now celebrate in Abu Dhabi, after the team confirmed their constructors' title thanks to Lando Norris' victory. For Oscar Piastri, the Grand Prix was not as straightforward, after making contact with Max Verstappen into Turn 1 off the line. The Australian reacted to the incident to GPblog among others.

Verstappen had a good start in Abu Dhabi, and he could immediately overtake Carlos Sainz. He then tried to go down the inside of Oscar Piastri too, however, he was just too eager. After the two made contact, both drivers span out. Over the team radio, the Australian reacted to the incident with saying: 'Yes, move of a world champion that one.'

Piastri was asked about the session after the Grand Prix, where he ended up finishing in P10. "This sucks. Obviously, at that point, I knew I needed to try and get my way back through. And I knew it was going to be tough. But once I had the coming together with Colapinto, that was pretty much the nail in the coffin for my race. So not the best way to end off the season for myself, but for the team, couldn't have obviously been any better."

He added: "So, I'll definitely ride the high of that and have a good off-season. I'm sure the rest of the team will and make sure we come out strong next year."

About the incident itself he continued: "I think for me there was no overlap into the corner. Max came and apologised and the penalty speaks for itself. It is what it is, but just very, very happy for the whole team. I think that's definitely the big thing for today," the McLaren driver concluded.
