Will Norris get a penalty? McLaren driver follows Verstappen and Leclerc

Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris were asked about the culture within the McLaren team ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season now that they have both given out favours to each other.

"This year there's been a lot of noise about how we go racing as a team and whether it's right, mostly whether it's wrong. But I think we've always been very comfortable with how we've done things. It's always been very clear that the team comes first and in some scenarios that means myself helping Lando, in some scenarios that means Lando helping me," Piastri said.

Piastri went on to say the fact the McLaren drivers can work together like this is a strength of the team. Norris agreed. "Oscar's put it very well honestly. Next year is a refresh and Oscar has an opportunity to fight for a championship too. A lot of what you guys [the media] write about and talk about has been because of the championship fight, the drivers championship fight," Norris said.

Norris swore during the press conference

Norris then muttered that he has earned the right to have that privilege, but because the word "privilege" did not come out easily, he then said "shit". Immediately the McLaren driver apologised, after which George Russell pointed out that a penalty would be coming for him. Norris laughed.

Verstappen previously received a community service penalty for saying "f***ed" during the press conference. Leclerc used the word 'f**k' during another press conference, but he was fined 10,000 euros, of which 5,000 was conditional. It is, therefore, to be expected that Norris will also be penalised. 

Finally, Norris stressed again that he does not want to win the championship by constantly getting help from his teammate. He would want to give Verstappen a fair fight.
