The Qatar GP marks the last sprint race of the 2024 season. Since it is a sprint weekend, this will be the only practice session this weekend. Max Verstappen has already been crowned champion, but the Constructors' Championship remains up for grabs. McLaren currently lead, but they face stern competition from Ferrari, and Red Bull can't be ruled out either.

Back to sprint weekend format
Qatar will once again host a sprint race, the final sprint weekend of the season. This means the drivers only have 60 minutes of practice to set their cars up, with sprint qualifying taking place today as well. The sprint race will kick the action off on Saturday before qualifying for Sunday's race at 18:00 GMT. Light's out for Sunday's Grand Prix is at 16:00 GMT.
Only two drivers have won a sprint race this season: Max Verstappen, who has won four, and Lando Norris, who won the most recent race in Brazil. For the other teams hoping to secure their spots in the constructors', this practice session sets them up for the rest of the weekend. As the only practice session they get, the teams must make the most of it and identify their weak spots as soon as possible.
Verstappen already 2024 F1 champion
Max Verstappen has won the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship during the Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend. The Dutch Red Bull Racing driver is now a four-time World Champion and joins Sebastian Vettel and Alain Prost.
