Charles Leclerc on Max Verstappen winning in Ferrari

Max Verstappen secured his fourth consecutive World Championship with Red Bull last weekend in Las Vegas. Despite not having the fastest car for the majority of the season, Verstappen won the title with two rounds remaining. He went on to claim he could've won the title with a Ferrari, which is something Charles Leclerc was quick to denounce.

Ferrari are in the fight for the Constructors' Championship, but neither Carlos Sainz or Charles Leclerc were Verstappen's closest rival throughout the year. That honour went to McLaren's Lando Norris, though Leclerc still has a chance at finishing second in the Drivers' Championship.

Could Verstappen win the title in a Ferrari?

Verstappen suggested that he would be able to win the World Championship with the Italian car. "Max is a very special driver, and I think what makes him very special is also the confidence that he has. However, I think it's very difficult to say something like that not knowing actually what the car is like," Leclerc said.

"He's an incredible driver, no doubt. Whether he would have [won] it or not, I don't know. I don't know how the Red Bull is or how the McLaren is. He doesn't know the Ferrari is, so it's maybe a bit of a stretch to say something like that," he concluded.
