Sergio Perez knows he needs to be as prepared as possible for the sprint weekend in Qatar. The Red Bull Racing driver did not advance past Q1 in qualifying last weekend at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. He managed to score 1 point for his team.

"Las Vegas was positive because we had the speed in the race, and it was good to see that we were more competitive throughout the race. For the last two races, we need to get qualifying right and get the car in the right position more consistently so that on race days, we can start where we need to be," Perez noted.

An excellent qualifying session is essential to scoring as many points as possible. This weekend is a sprint weekend, so he has two chances to redeem himself, as there will be two qualifying sessions. With this being a sprint weekend, Perez will have less data to work with.

"Qatar offers totally different challenges than Vegas, so it will be interesting to see how the car performs here on the surface, in totally different temperatures," he said. The sprint format means we lose time on the track to collect data, but I have been in the factory this week with my team to make sure we are as prepared as possible to start on Friday," Perez concluded.
