- Ludo van Denderen
An enormous setback for Sonny Hayes. The APX GP driver will have to miss out on the Las Vegas Grand Prix after a heavy crash during qualifying. On X, the team informs that the condition of Brad Pitt's character in the upcoming F1 film is stable, but he will not be able to compete in the US.
Footage shared online shows that the incident happened ahead of the straight start-finish. What exactly caused the crash is still unknown. His team stated in a statement on social media: "During qualifying, Sonny sustained a significant impact requiring immediate medical evaluation. Incidents of this magnitude are always taken seriously, and Sonny's health remains our top priority."
"While Sonny is otherwise stable, he will not participate in tomorrow's race as he focuses on recovery. The entire team stands behind him, and we'll provide updates when available. Joshua [Pearce] will race solo tomorrow, carrying the team forward," APX GP concludes.
