Horner downplays Red Bull's issues: 'Others are dealing with it too'
Red Bull Racing had a tough Friday in Las Vegas. Max Verstappen struggled to get to grips with his RB20, and teammate Sergio Perez also seemed to lack speed. Team boss Christian Horner remains relaxed despite his team's teething problems.
Three-time world champion Max Verstappen was also feeling positive despite the result. The Dutchman realised that Red Bull was not where it needed to be, but several teams also had their own issues. He said the car looked better when running longer distances, an encouraging sign for race day. If Max Verstappen finishes in front of Lando Norris, he will be crowned a four-time consecutive champion this weekend.
Horner explains 'critical elements'
Team principal Christian Horner highlighted some key factors for this weekend's race after FP2. "It's tyres and temperatures. They're the critical elements. So, I think in the short run, we just weren't in the window with the tyres, so we never really got it working," Horner revealed. It's cold this weekend in Las Vegas, and any temperature change affects the cars.
"In the long run, the car's working okay. We've got some other issues to tidy up, but they sort of look similar to what the others are dealing with. But on the short run, we just didn't get the tyre working." Horner concluded.
Verstappen finished fifth in FP1 and P17 in FP2. Sergio Perez finished P10 in FP1 and P19 in FP2. There's still one more practice session to go before tomorrow's qualifying session, where Red Bull needs a good result to stay a contender in the constructors battle.
