Max Verstappen critical of Red Bull after parting Daniel Ricciardo
18 October at 17:50

Max Verstappen remains bitter about the way Daniel Ricciardo had to leave Formula One. According to the three-time world champion, Red Bull could have handled the situation better at their sister team about replacing the Australian.

After the Singapore GP, everyone was sure about Daniel Ricciardo competing in his final F1 event. However, Red Bull decided not to comment on the matter, and the Australian did not receive a special farewell by his team. Because of that, Ricciardo could not say anything either, even as he was visibly emotional.

Few days after, Visa Cash App RB's press release followed, where it was announced that Liam Lawson will replace Ricciardo until the end of the season. Verstappen believes his team could have handled the situation more appropriately, given it could turn out to be his final ever race in the competition.

"I think it was quite clear for me, for Daniel, that that was the last race. From my side, I think it could have been handled a bit differently. Also for him, because he knew it, but if you can't say it exactly, it's a bit of a shame."

"He's done a lot for F1. He's won races, he has had incredible races, and yes, I think he deserved a nicer, let's say, exit," the three-time champion concluded.
