F1 Charles Leclerc wants to steal points from Max Verstappen and Lando Norris
18 October at 15:00

Charles Leclerc, currently third in the Formula One drivers' world championship, does not see himself as the referee in the title battle between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris but is looking to steal points from them both. The Ferrari driver is just 34 points behind the McLaren driver, who is, in turn, 52 points behind the reigning world champion in Formula 1. The man from Monaco believes he can get himself into the fight.

"I wouldn't consider that a referee. Probably the FIA is much more of a referee than I am. The goal is obviously to steal as many points as we can from them. But more than focusing on the battle in front, I still feel that if we do everything perfect, there's still a slight possibility of us joining the fight," the Monegasque driver explained.

Ferrari and Leclerc in Formula 1 championships

Ferrari and Leclerc want to do everything they can to still be in the fight for the championship. "That's the only thing I have in mind. Just focusing on my own performance and trying to win as many races as possible, whenever there's the opportunity to do so," concluded the driver, who turned 27 years old ahead of the Grand Prix.

Ferrari are not far behind in the Constructors' World Championship either. The Italian team is third in the standings with 441 points. Red Bull Racing follow in second place with 475 points. McLaren lead with 516 points.
