Oscar Piastri appreciates Max Verstappen's support

Oscar Piastri has reacted to Max Verstappen's comment that the Australian is too good to be a wingman for Lando Norris at McLaren. Piastri acknowledged the Dutchman's words and reiterated that he is trying to do the best he can for McLaren.

How did Piastri react to Verstappen's comment?

The Red Bull Racing driver expressed his support for Lando Norris's teammate and said he would never accept a role as 'number two' in a Formula One team in his place. Piastri can appreciate his rival's words.

"Personally, I think Max is a very straightforward guy. He says what he thinks. We all know that. So I think in my position, I don't see it as being a number one, number two. If I put in good performances and deserve them on merit, then, as we've said before...Baku is a perfect example, really, of not giving up everything this season purely for the benefit of Lando," Piastri said in the paddock at COTA.

"I’m trying to help the team as best as I can. So it's not simply number one, number two. We still have the same car. We still have the same opportunities. And last weekend, Lando did a better job than me and won the race. I appreciate his support. But it's not really how I view it," concluded the two-time race winner.
