Red Bull Racing has admitted to making changes to Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez's cars as a result of talks with the FIA, according to the BBC. Rival Formula 1 teams had alerted the FIA to a 'trick' the Austrian formation might be using. The governing body has since taken action.

'Red Bull admits changes have been made'

The FIA announced stricter testing but stressed that there was no indication that any team was actually using the solution, which could be used to adjust the ride height at the front of the car between qualifying and the race. Adjustments to the set-up would then no longer be permitted under parc fermé rules.

According to the BBC, Red Bull admitted that this solution was present on the RB20 and that in consultation with the FIA it was decided to adjust the car. "Yes, (the device) exists, although it is inaccessible once the car is fully assembled and ready to run. In the numerous correspondence we have with the FIA, this part came up and we have agreed a plan going forward," a spokesperson for the team was quoted by the BBC.

The part in question concerns the 'front bib clearance' and is located in the middle of the floor at the front of the car. The FIA stressed that such modifications are strictly forbidden under the parc fermé rules and although it has not been able to catch any team using them, the governing body has made it clear that procedures for checks have been tightened.
